Lysistrata Set

The set for Lysistrata used an asymmetrical stage with stairs all along the edge. The curved stage and pillars were inspired by Greek amphitheaters, but we inserted sculptures of women breaking those pillars to emphasize a core theme of the play. The director wanted a monotone set so the colors of the actors’ costumes would stand out. The monotone also served as an ideal canvas for our lighting. The back of the set was a projection screen that was used throughout the show.

This is the sketch we drew for the stage.  The drawing was to scale. We put the sheets of plywood on the drawing  so we are able to transfer the lines from the drawing to the plywood.
